"My Journey in the 4th Quarter

 

I learned a lot and gained hands-on experience during the 4th quarter, especially in how to use Microsoft FrontPage to develop web sites. I learned about computer networks such as LANs, computer system administration, network security protocols, and Ethernet cable types, and how to build them with appropriate tools and materials. I also learned how to design and assemble a webpage, format fonts and layout, and

implement aesthetics. A better appreciation for web building and how the numerous components—layout, structure, and content—work together to produce an exciting and functional website was achieved with the use of FrontPage.

Even with all that I've learned, I have also faced some challenges. To begin with, it was not easy to handle some of the tools and configurations in Microsoft FrontPage because they were new to me. It was also not easy to get the exact format that I needed, and sometimes my designs didn't look like I had envisioned them.

To get past these challenges, I spent more time learning the aspects of Microsoft FrontPage and experimenting with various design elements. I also asked for help when I needed it, which led to me learning new techniques and methods. With patience, trial and error, and persistent practice, I became more at ease and proficient in working with the software.

In the future, I look forward to continuing to improve my web designing skills by practicing and testing more complicated layouts and innovative designs. I intend to challenge myself by making more sophisticated and professional-looking web designs while learning about Microsoft FrontPage's features.This experience has boosted my enthusiasm for digital design and motivated me to continue to improve. With commitment and hard work, I believe that I am able to further develop and improve in this profession.

15 Years from Now: A Glimpse into My Future

In 15 years, I see myself as a dentist—not just a professional helping people with their teeth, but someone who understands the deeper impact dental health can have on confidence and self-esteem. Becoming a dentist is something I’ve always dreamed of. It’s because I know firsthand how much oral health can affect how a person feels about themselves.

Growing up, I struggled with confidence when it came to my teeth. It made me realize how much a beautiful smile can affect a person’s self-esteem. That’s one of the reasons I want to become a dentist—so I can help others feel better about their own smiles, just like I want to feel confident in mine.

I chose dentistry because it allows me to help people in a meaningful way. A beautiful smile isn’t just about appearance—it’s a reflection of someone’s self-worth. As a dentist, I want to be able to restore that self-esteem in people, to show them that they deserve to feel confident and happy in their own skin. Every smile is different, and every patient brings a unique story, which makes each day an opportunity to learn, grow, and make a difference.

In 15 years, I hope to be a skilled and compassionate dentist with my own practice. But beyond the technical skills, I want to build lasting relationships with my patients, where they know I genuinely care about their well-being. I also want to be in a place where I can take care of myself, buy the things I need, and most importantly, give back to my parents. Their sacrifices have been the foundation of my journey, and in 15 years, I want to be able to show them how much I appreciate everything they’ve done for me.

I know it’s going to take a lot of hard work, long hours of studying, and overcoming challenges along the way. But I’m determined because I know how much it will mean—not just for my career, but for my own personal growth. I want to be able to look back at my journey and know that I turned my own struggles into motivation to help others.

In the end, dentistry isn’t just about teeth; it’s about helping people feel better, inside and out. I can’t wait to be part of that change, one smile at a time

ISNHS Founding Celebration: A Day to Remember

The yearly observance of the founding of Ilocos Sur National High School (ISNHS) is a major event that brings together the entire school community. It is a time for reminiscing about the past, achievements, and togetherness of students, teachers, and alumni. The event is not merely about the remembrance of the past but also about creating enjoyable and entertaining experiences for everyone.

One of the attractions of the celebration is the wide range of activities that promote school spirit and

unity. Students have colorful parades during the celebration, where they proudly represent their sections and show their school pride. Joining the parade is an excellent and exhilarating experience, as students walk with their friends, waving flags and cheering with joy. It is a time when everyone feels a strong sense of belonging and pride in being a part of ISNHS.

The second thrilling feature of the event is the dance performances. Performing during these presentations is not only fun but also rewarding. The rehearsals before the event might tire one, but being able to perform in front of an audience is all worth the effort. Dancing with peers allows students to express their creativity, build teamwork, and boost confidence.

Following the performances, one of the best parts is having lunch with classmates and the adviser. Sharing food while sitting together and swapping stories creates a warm and friendly atmosphere. It is a time for laughter and bonding, which makes the celebration even more special. These little yet significant moments reinforce friendships and make lasting memories.

The founding anniversary is also significant as it honors the legacy of the school and its impact on society. It is a time to recognize the efforts of teachers, staff, and alumni who have contributed to the establishment of the school. The event also instills in students the importance of education and becoming responsible and successful individuals.

Celebrating Equality: Women's Month and Beyond

March is Women's Month, a time to celebrate the astounding accomplishments of women throughout history and acknowledge the work that still needs to be done in order to have full gender equality. The theme "We for Gender Equality and an Inclusive Society" encourages us that this is not only for women's concern, but also for societal concern that everyone need to contribute to. Gender equality is all about equal opportunities, rights, and respect for everyone.It's about making sure that all individuals,it would be man, woman, or non-binary, are able to live their life without discrimination and live peacefully. To actually make a progress, we need to come together and act collectively.

Gender equality benefits for all of us. When individuals have the same oppurtunities in education, employment, and leaderships, society becomes better and more resillient. Inclusive society isn't only about gender; it's about  valuing all sorts of differences, such as race, ability, and sexual orientation. It's important to make sure that everyone feels included and can participate without fear of exclusion. When we embrace diversity, we create a community where every individual can contribute and thrive.

Love is More Than Romance

Valentine’s Day, celebrated every February 14, is a special occasion dedicated to love, affection, and gratitude. People express their appreciation through gifts, heartfelt messages, flowers, and simple acts. It is a time to show care and appreciation to friends, family, and those who matter most.                                                              

Valentine's Day, also referred to as Saint Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, is on February 14 every year.It began as a Christian feast day in honor of a martyr named Valentine, and through subsequent folk traditions has also become an important cultural, religious and commercial celebration of love and romance in much of the world.

    

Love is not only romance; it is also kindness, appreciation, and care for other people.  Although Valentine's Day is usually celebrated by couples, love comes in various forms—friendship, family ties, self-love, and loving-kindness for others. It is respecting, supporting, and being thankful to the people important in our lives. Real love is not confined to romantic love but is shown in how we treat and care for the people around us.

Affection does not have to be elaborate. Spending time together, being kind with words, and assisting with little things demonstrate that you care.

Offering little presents, leaving a brief note, or preparing someone's favorite meal can make them feel special. A smile, hug, holding hands, or a pat on the back are little things that demonstrate love. Being present and listening is the best way to demonstrate that you care.

Hibla ng Kultura: A Journey Through Abel Iloco

  Our journey began with the desire to understand something deeper, something more meaningful than just the act of weaving. We chose to study Abel weaving in Barangay Camangaan, not just because it was a craft, but because it was the lifeblood of the community’s cultural identity.

  First, we chose Barangay Camangaan because it has a strong history of Abel weaving. We then decided on the topic and assigned tasks to each group member. We split the work into interviews, surveys, and data analysis.

   Before diving into the heart of our interviews, we knew we had to understand the community that shaped this tradition. The community profile survey was our first step, an essential moment where we gathered data and insights into the lives of the people of Barangay Camangaan. It wasn’t just about numbers; it was about seeing the people who made Abel weaving what it was—a community bound together by thread and history.

 

   As the tasks were completed, our leader took the reins, organizing the results into a cohesive structure. Everything was checked, rechecked, and made ready for submission, ensuring we had every aspect covered. The sense of teamwork was palpable, each of us contributing to a greater whole.

 

   Then came the day of our presentation on February 3, 2025. The ICT room became our stage, where we stood in front of our classmates, ready to deliver our findings. It wasn’t just about presenting facts; it was about sharing the heartbeat of our culture. We spoke with passion and pride, delivering the story of Abel Iloco as though it were our own, naturally weaving together history, significance, and meaning.

   In this journey, it’s not just about finishing the task, but about the learning and teamwork along the way. Each step, from research to presentation, helped us understand the deeper meaning of Abel Iloco in our culture. It wasn’t just about speaking in front of the class; it was about sharing a piece of our heritage. Through this experience, we grew together as a team and realized how much our culture shapes who we are. The true success was in the journey itself.

HTML and Research Journey: A Third Quarter Reflection

In the third quarter, we worked on a community-based research project focusing on different communities that align with our city. This project allowed us to explore various aspects of these communities, including their history, culture, social issues, economic activities, and the challenges they face. We also learned about various HTML tags, such as those used for description lists, nested lists, ordered list and unordered list. I also learned a lot about teamwork and especially time management.

However, the process wasn’t easy. Building a webpage took a lot of time to accomplish, and we only had Notepad as our main tool for coding. With limited software and resources, we faced several challenges, such as debugging errors manually, formatting content properly, and ensuring that our webpage functioned as intended. One of the biggest problems I faced at that time was time management because I had to balance my project with other school activities. It was stressful, but we make it at last.

To address these challenges, i utilized online tutorials and sought help from peers and practicing to make it better.

Moving forward, I will continue to improve my time management and web development skills, using what I learned in this project.

Walking Through Vigan's History

In many decades, Vigan is a city known for its famous historical values with the Spanish era building and monuments in their existing old glory. Vigan began with mere small municipality until it became a flourishing city now.

Before it became a city, Vigan once a municipality of Ilocos Sur. It established in 1572, the town was born during the Spanish colonial era. Vigan remembered with the cobblestone streets and lovely structures when it was during the Spanish times, which still found in the place today.

The Vigan journey toward cityhood was set in the late 1990's. In 1990, Republic Act No. 8508 was signed into law that declared Vigan as city. Vigan really did change since it became a city. It has excellent tourist aspect because of the preserved heritage sites, particularly the Calle Crisologo. This city is also popular with the festivals, especially the longganisa festival. Local products, like longganisa and pottery, are also famous here. Although it had been modernized, Vigan still tried to preserve its historical ambiance. It makes the city so unique in having a blend of the past with the present.

Vigan's development from a municipality into a city is a prime example of how community develops without losing its attachment to its own roots. Its preservation of its history combined with embracing progress makes Vigan a special example of how development and heritage have come of age together.

Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, is a cultural event celebrated not just in China but also in the Philippines. New Year, New Goals, New Growth!

Celebrating New Year with Family

In the New Year's Eve, our family gathered to celebrate that night with joy and excitement. We prepared food. Food was prepared with some special dishes and round fruits for good luck. Then we played games with the family, laughing and enjoying the moment. Then when the midnight hour arrived, we lit fireworks, filling the sky with color and sound, symbolizing the start of a new year. We would sing songs, sharing our voices and happiness to make this celebration more vibrant. Through these traditions we welcomed the New Year as a family full of love, hope, and joy.

 New Year, New Me

 It is time to move forward for the year 2025. This year is not only about me but also about everything. Moreover, concentrating on my self-improvement, I'm also giving importance to the people who matter most in my life, including my family, friends, and myself.

   Above all, family is the most important thing. I'm through with letting life get in between me and my dearest ones. 2025 is the year of family connection through meaningful conversations with my parents, casual hangouts with my siblings, just helping each other whenever we are needed. It is about creating memories, encouraging one another, and making sure that we all grow as a team.

However, this journey also has to do with me, not just my loved ones. This year, I want to improve my life further. This year, I am considering taking care of my mental health, learning new skills, and overcoming those fears. Yes, this may hurt at first, but I am ready to step out of this comfort zone of mine.

I will find a way to keep this commitment, even though I am aware that it will not be easy. Nevertheless, there will be difficulties and moments when I doubt myself, but I will remain determined and press on. Not only is 2025 a year to pass, but it's also a year to grow, and I'll put in a lot of effort to improve myself and my relationships with the people I care about.

Unforgettable Moments

    Christmas is such a time of love, warmth, and togetherness at the house. It's a very nice season for company in the family. This year, my mom and I decided that we wanted our house to be even more special during Christmas so we wrapped several gifts for our family members and decorated the house with Christmas trees and twinkling lights. Preparing for the holiday closened us together, making the season much more meaningful.

   As Christmas night falls, we have a boodle fight first, and then we prepare ourselves for the Christmas celebrations. But before this, we attend midnight mass to rejoice in the birth of Jesus. Then we go for a grand feast with dishes full of local flavor and continue merriment through stories and jokes with family and friends.

   

  I also spend my Christmas Holiday to relax because these past few days it has been so exhausting. Aside from resting, I make sure to spend quality time with friends and family and cherishing those moments togetherness.

   All in all, I've had lots of fun because, with Christmas holidays, we get to meet up again, and spending time with them is part of the best parts of my holiday. Despite being a little tired, it's worthwhile because I enjoy being with them.

Reflection on my Journey 2nd Quarter

A. Our coding lessons taught me a lot, particularly how to construct instructions that solve problems for computers. I've found it to be rather fascinating!

 B. Since learning new concepts, correcting mistakes, and efficiently managing my time are all part of coding, I occasionally find it difficult. 

C. I can practice more, get assistance from my peers, effectively manage my time, and maintain my good attitude to deal with coding obstacles.

Quarter 2 Thematic in ICT

In Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004 was enacted on March 8 2004. This law tells that we need to protect women and children to different forms of abuse, such as, physical, emotional, sexual, and economic violence. This law penalizes by any act or series of acts '' committed by any person against women who is wife, former wife, or against a woman with whom the person has or had a sexual or dating relationship,or with whom he has a common child, or against her child whether legitimate or illegitimate, within or without the family abode. 

The 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women is an annual event in the Philippines,observed from November 25 to December 12. It aims to raise awareness about violence against women and children and encourage action to stop.

A Philippine law known as RA 11313, or the Safe Spaces Act of 2019, was created to shield people—particularly women and vulnerable groups—from sexual harassment in public places, workplaces, educational institutions, and online. By including verbal, non-physical, and online offences such leering, catcalling, and uninvited sexual approaches, it broadens the definition of sexual harassment. The law requires establishments to have harassment prevention measures in place, imposes penalties for violators, and mandates safer surroundings in public areas. In an effort to promote a respectful and dignified culture throughout society, it also offers victims safety and reporting channels.

In order to expand the legal definition of rape, RA 11648, which was passed on March 11, 2022, alters
RA 8353 (The Anti-Rape Law of 1997). Sexual assault and other non-consensual sexual actions outside of vaginal sex are now included. Additionally, the legislation establishes a distinct category for incestuous rape and imposes harsher punishments, especially in situations involving kids. These modifications seek to enhance the prosecution of sexual assault and fortify victim safeguards under the law.

Climate Change and Resiliency of Filipinos

Climate change is now an immediate reality affecting the lives of many Filipinos, not just a future concern. The Philippines is among the countries most at risk from climate change, experiencing not only severe weather events such as typhoons and droughts but also significant disturbances to its ecosystems, economy, and communities. For Filipinos, climate change is not just about its environmental effects but also about their survival. 

The geographic location of the Philippines poses a major challenge. The nation is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire, which means it is at great risk for seismic and climate-related incidents like typhoons, floods, and landslides. Now, the country faced numerous destructive typhoons, like Typhoon Pepito, leading to significant damage, particularly places like Ilocos Sur. The severe events are made worse by higher sea levels, alterations in precipitation trends, and heightened temperatures, all connected to climate change. Many Filipinos have to face challenges that result in the loss of their homes, livelihoods, and lives.

Despite those challenges, Filipinos have shown impressive resilience in dealing with the impacts of climate change. Foe a better a future we must need a unity to make our mother earth healthy.

 While celebrating the 2024 National Children's Month, the theme underscores the continuous necessity for a united front in defending the rights and well-being of Filipino children: "Stop the Prevalence, Prevent the Violence: Safeguarding Children, Building a Secure Philippines." This year's focus underscores a pressing need for action, stressing the importance of safeguarding children not only from physical harm, but also from emotional, psychological, and sexual abuse. The theme's focus on ending violence against children shows a greater acknowledgement of how common this issue is.

   Recently, there have been several efforts in the Philippines to address the issue of child abuse and neglect. Nevertheless, even with these initiatives, the rates of violence against children continue to be troublingly elevated. Millions of Filipino children are still experiencing various forms of violence in their homes, schools, or communities, as reported by the Philippine Statistics Authority and child protection organizations. The physical and mental health of children is impacted by this violence, leading to both short-term and long-term effects that can create a cycle of trauma and dysfunction.

    Putting an end to violence against children necessitates using a variety of approaches. The government, local communities, and civil society need to continue working together on policy-making, establishing safe environments for children to express themselves, and promoting atmospheres where respect, dignity, and love are the top priorities. Furthermore, it is essential to have initiatives such as the National Children's Month event to promote a sense of responsibility among adults in safeguarding the well-being of children. The struggle to reduce violence is not only about enforcing stricter laws, but also about shifting societal mindsets, and it begins with every individual.

Elpidio Quirino ,his early life, career and achievements

Elpidio Quirino was the President of the Philippines from 1948 to 1953. He was engaged in politics during important periods in Philippine history, such as the aftermath of World War II and the start of the Cold War. Quirino was recognized for his focus on reconstructing the nation post-war, his role in advancing the economy, and his work in promoting political stability.

Elpidio Quirino was born in Vigan, Ilocos Sur to a prominent family. His father, Don Mariano Quirino, worked as a lawyer and owned land, while his mother, Doña Gregoria Medina, was a teacher. Elpidio was highly influenced by the educated and politically connected Quirino family and their values of education and public service.

Quirino started his schooling in Vigan before transferring to Manila for higher education at the University of the Philippines. He obtained a law degree in 1915, and subsequently cleared the bar exam.

Following his bar exam, Quirino started his legal career in Manila. Nevertheless, his legal profession was short-lived, as he quickly transitioned into the field of politics. He initially served as a second lieutenant in the Philippine Scouts, a supplementary unit of the U.S. Army in the American colonial era. He spent a number of years in the military and participated in training and administrative tasks in the Philippine-American War.

In 1919, Quirino started working in public service as the assistant chief of the Bureau of Posts, marking the beginning of his career in the government. In 1925, he campaigned for and won a seat in the House of Representatives, serving the 2nd District of Ilocos Sur. In 1934, he was given a seat in the Senate and gained a reputation for his effective administrative abilities, which proved valuable during his presidency.

Political Career and Achievements

1. Public Service During the Commonwealth Period (1935-1941)
Quirino’s political career advanced significantly during the Commonwealth period under President Manuel L. Quezon. He was appointed as the Secretary of the Interior (1936–1938) and later as Secretary of Finance (1938–1941). During his tenure as Secretary of Finance, Quirino was instrumental in shaping the financial policies of the Commonwealth, which aimed to make the Philippines more economically independent from the United States. He also worked on revenue reforms and proposed key measures to increase government spending on social programs.

2. Role in the Japanese Occupation and World War II
During the Japanese occupation of the Philippines (1942–1945), Quirino remained active in the anti-Japanese resistance. He was a member of the Philippine Executive Commission, an emergency civilian government set up by the Japanese, but his activities were focused on the underground movement to aid in the liberation of the country. In 1943, he fled Manila after the Japanese discovered his ties to the resistance, and he continued working with guerrilla forces until the end of the war.

3. Vice Presidency (1946–1948)
After World War II, Quirino was appointed as the Vice President of the Philippines under President Sergio Osmeña following the country’s liberation from Japanese forces. During this time, he worked on various post-war reconstruction efforts, including helping in the rehabilitation of the economy, infrastructure, and the resettlement of war refugees.

Indigenous Peoples Mont And 27th Year Indigenous Peoples Right Act (IPRA)

Every year in October, Philippines was celebrated the Indigenous People or IP which is the theme of "Mga Katutubo at Katutubong Dunong: Pahalagahan, Pangalagaan at Parangalana". The year from October 1-30 the theme"Mga Katutubo at Katutubon Dunong: Pahalagahan, Pangalagaan at Parangalana" reminds that we need to protect the rights and culture of the Indigineous People. Furthermore, In Republic Law 8371, known as the Indigineous Peoples Right Act(IPRA), was enacted in 1997. I has been praised for its support for the cultural integrity of Indigenous Peoples, the right to their lands and the right to self-directed development of these lands.   

By these events and programs, we are helping to foster greater awareness and appreciation of the Indigenous Peoples' (IP) contributions to the cultural, social, and environmental fabric of the Philippines. The observance of Indigenous Peoples Month serves as an important reminder not only to protect their rights but also to acknowledge the vital role they play in preserving biodiversity, traditional knowledge, and sustainable practices that are crucial to the country's future.

To sum up, Indigenous Peoples Month urges all Filipinos to acknowledge the significance of Indigenous communities and to pledge to safeguard and enhance their rights, cultures, and knowledge. Simple Ways to Protect Our Environment:
